Puget Sound

I tried the Du once before last year, but those hos were not bitey, they needed to pink up a bit apparently. Like @Nick Clayton I also found fish to push even me to the point of mercy, and if you know me, that really is saying something. I just… couldn’t… any more… Normally my casting arm or wrist gives, but my stripping biceps and triceps just sorta got squishy and done.View attachment 80207View attachment 80208View attachment 80209View attachment 80210
Love the smiles. The boys at Lenice may have mentioned you get a little excited fighting fish.
See SF, it's pretty fun...if you like to get sore. Haha! My left arm is finally not sore today... from Sunday. I'll take that sort of soreness!

I’m glad other people enjoy catching them but I'd rather get my arm sore chasing coho......whether I'm catching them or not. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

2-3 this morning fishing before work. Hooked into a really solid fish right at daybreak that jumped and spit me. Then jumped again just to rub in how nice of a fish he was. Landed another decent fish that had a fin so he swam free. Capped it off with a clipped rezzie sized coho I also released. Though a keeper sized fish, it was not a particularly large rezzie and I had to work today and did not want to deal with it :). Did not see many other fish landed and not a single pink while I was there. I did hear some were caught there yesterday though.

Really enjoying fishing this fly in 2023.

Mostly a scouting trip to see where I might want to fish tomorrow. I’ve got 6 solid days of coho’ing ahead of me starting tomorrow.

Is that fly weighted?

16C36738-3C8D-4D97-A784-69B0D5C31241.jpegChewy and I chased some cutthroat around the neighborhood. The evening’s incoming tide pushed around a few points and set up a decent flow. The skiff is all torn up so we made do with this freebie. The small size allowed for some sneaky approaches. At one point a fat golden jumper almost landed in the Avon. Humorous antics followed.

Cheers

Nothing for me at a popular crowded Area 11 spot this morning, but there was a brief frenzy of activity where a lot of folks were hooking up.

On the way home I checked out a new to me beach. I made a few quick exploratory casts with the back up rod I carry in my car trunk, and managed to wipe the skunk off by getting one feisty pink. I wasn’t wadered-up anymore and it was slippery on the rocks so I called it a morning and headed home.

Ran into @SteelHeadDave @KFCDAVE on the beach this morning. It was my first time specifically targeting salmon of the beach with a fly. Steelhead Dave was kind enough to give me a fly and let me copycat his technique enough that I went 4-6 on small shaker rezzies, all clipped, 1-1 on a small pink, and 5-5 on baitfish foul hooked 😂. It was a good day, hoping I can get back out soon and find a little larger fish.
