New vaccines are in! Just got mine. 5g reception has increased by 200% and the voices are telling me to buy Microsoft stock. So far, so good!

I wasn't aware that the vaccines had been updated, until my (pharmacist) wife told me yesterday. Figured it was worth a PSA. I had to get a flu shot, so I got both at the same time.

Yeah, it is supposed to be a big improvement over the earlier versions. I'm all in. Being a senior, it's one less thing to fret about. Kind of liberating actually, not to be freaked out about covid. I'm waiting until mid-Oct. then I'll get the 1,2 punch with the flu shot...
 
I keep saying that I need that 2nd booster, but just can't get to Safeway to get the shot. I'm just to god damn lazy on this end.

Are you talking about the NovaVax protein-based vaccine or a strain-matchning mRNA vaccine? Good reminder to get everyone on my family a flu shot soon!

I just mean the updated Pfizer one, for Omicron. I didn't know they had updated the vaccines yet. I just assumed they were useless, at this point.

The original with two plus boost is still highly effective against severe disease, hospitalization, and death. Only effective against infection for about three months, but it’s hospitalization and death that is important. This is similar to most other vaccines.

Everyone? That's a pretty big list. I don't remember being disgusting to my daughter.

Mrs. Brian had an anaphylactic reaction to the 1st Pfizer shot. She has checked out NovaVax and found it contains polysorbate 80 that is similar to PEG. Still not a candidate, and no way am I going to try to advise her to try again.
 
I have mentioned this on old forum before. I have a history with Guillain Barre (My legs were paralyzed at the age of 3 for nearly a year after vaccinations i got for my dad’s military assignment to France) . I had trepidation about getting the shots so I got it later at urgent care. I got it because i was worried about giving it to my elderly parents who i was caring for. I had little problem with all of them.

I was hoping people could simply consider this as a PSA announcement and walk on by without other comments. But I can see it probably isn’t possible here.


I actually didn’t know the new booster was available until two days ago when my neighbors got both the flu and booster at same time. (My friend felt crappy for one day, so maybe not getting both at the same time Is better.)
