Life of the Party
I changed out the batteries as I do every year, and when I turn it on, the screen flashes and then nothing. and I think I hear a quick light buzzing and then blank screen.
seems like a short to me somewhere.
I have reinstalled the batteries (new) a couple of times already.

help and thanks

I had to replace the battery wiring on mine. The plastic was cracking and exposed the copper.

Just go Garmin and never look back🤠 sorry I know that isn't what you were asking
@dep - Two days ago I met Billy on a lake, he was using his Garmin (Striker-4 I think), I had my Fishin' Buddy 120. Billy was marking fish at assorted depths, suspended. I wasn't unless the water was deep enough for the cone to see the fish. Billy has shared some of his Garmin techniques a couple times: https://www.pnwflyfishing.com/forum/index.php?threads/random-questions.8858/#post-202391

Billy talked me into a Garmin Striker 4 last year. Will never go back. The thing is far more accurate than the fishing buddy.

It's apparently a fairly common problem with the original Fishin Buddy battery packs. These guys have an upgraded battery pack - if you don't mind supporting us "nasty" Canadians!

IIs the Garman portable and contained in a single unit like the Fishin Buddy?

Portable, yes. single unit, no. you have the display, battery and transducer. Bought a 2nd transducer for the PT and float tube and a tiny nocqua battery to power it. The transducer and display mount via a strap that is easy to attach both. Battery sits in the tube pouch.

Garmin Striker 4 And Nocqua battery pack-the right stuff! The battery pack weighs about 9 ounces and runs for days on a single charge.
Both endorsed by the Obscure Lakes Program for portability, long life, lightweight and accuracy.

I use a FB 120 in my boat and Garmin Striker 4 in my tube. The Garmin gives you more information but mine is fussy…it often loses contact or signal or whatever and takes several minutes to regain function. Or I have to shut it off and turn it back on and wait for it to go through its startup process.

The FB 120 is as simple as they come and provides just enough info to make me dangerous on the lake :geek:
