Probably. Or else your store was basically giving it away.

I think it was half way through Biden's term when the country was still reeling from Covid; then the supply chain issues hit and we had peak inflation of 9% that year. I think that was the first time I ever paid over $100 for a chunk of beef. Now that craziness has become normalized, and I guess I'm coming to an uneasy acceptance of it. Between the rising cost of living and my levelized retirement income, there will come an intersection that forces me to change my standard of living, and not for the better. I may be forced into drinking box wine by budget instead of choice. Sorry for the thread drift, but I've always been able to eat whatever I want, and it unnerves me to think that may change. I must be thinking this way because I went to Costco yesterday and it cost me over $300 for some NY steak, pork chops, ham, and odds and ends, and no wine!

My daughter and family have been raising cattle since 2004, sale price has not even kept up with inflation, maybe a 10% increase overall. What have meat prices at the store done? There are four corporations controlling 90% of the market as to control of the packing/slaughter houses.

If you change your standard of living, you will be joining my world.
