Pretty Wild Cutts…

Are you all referring to a boat or wading on the Cowlitz? If wading, I am curious how the access is? I will get out there and scout on my own, just looking for general guidance on availability of wading access. Thank you.

Once in a while I'll just drive to Blue Creek to walk and wade fish there. I use a boat for 95% of my Cowlitz fishing mainly because walk and wade access is very poor.

Up and downstream from the Blue Creek launch will give you your best bank access.
I’ve caught plenty of cutts in that section.

Hit a lake this morning with @Kfish looking for some wild, native cutts. Started off a little slow. Maybe they were still sleeping since we hit it at the crack but they soon woke up and we had a fantastic morning. Good enough that we decided to stop harassing them well before the clock hit PM even though there were still fish rising around us.

They hit streamers, wet flies and dries . We had a really great spell of dry fly fishing at one point that was a bit short lived but fun nonetheless. Catching wild trout on dries with a 4 weight is not something I take for granted in W. Washington.

Oh, and I learned another way to break a rod. Yay for me! When moving spot to spot with your spare rod pointing straight out the back of your tube, look for lily pads. They will indeed snap a 4 Winston quite easily if you’re moving at a brisk pace…
