Portland, Flood of Vinyl

Westfly Refugee

Steelhead
Seeing that music is a popular theme here, I figured some would like to know about a huge collection of modern music and memorabilia that just came up for sale at Portland's Germer Gallery.

This massive collection from an individual collector is comprised of around 5000 albums, a couple thousand CDs, and I don't know how many other objects - concert posters, framed art, rarities etc. Boxed sets and on and on. As someone who's spent time pawing through record bins, I was awed by how much stuff I'd never seen. And a lot is in still-sealed condition. Nearly all the albums I saw were in protective slip-sleeves. The late owner was definitely into the Beatles; I saw a framed celluloid from the movie Yellow Submarine.

Anyway, if you're a member of the Vinyl-is-Final community, here's the heads-up!

Vinyl is final. Best dynamic range and best listening experience if you're stationary. Just sounds better. Not sterile.
