After spending the last couple days contacting the majority of the Fly Shops and outfitters in both areas, it is not looking like I am going to be able to line up a guide for a float trip on either river for my trip in the area next week. So, my fishing buddy and I will be on our own. We are have done quite a bit of fishing in Montana and Idaho but not in these areas. Usually more in the Rock Creek, Flathead, and St. Joe areas. So, we are comfortable spending some time on the river and figuring things out. As a result, I am just looking for some general pointers (places to stay, access points, places to avoid, places to eat, etc). We are thinking of centering around the Island Park, ID and Darby, MT areas. We will have couple days in each location to fish, give or take a day. We have good amount of flexibility so open to suggestions. This is primarily a fishing trip so we can change things up as needed. A few specific questions but open to any suggestions you are willing to offer:

- Suggestions on places to stay. We don't need anything super fancy but we will definitely be staying at hotels so don't want anything where I will wish I was sleeping in the car.

- Opinions on waters to fish or areas to explore. We have loosely picked Henry's Fork and the Bitterroot because they are waters that we haven't fished that much but we aren't married to them.
- Fly shops you like that we can stop in to get some pointers and buy a few flies.
