Pliers

So you don’t have to spend a bunch to get some good quality. I bought mine a couple years ago and they look great after two years of saltwater abuse and other fresh water rock abuse. Great at crimping the barb. I bought mine from outdoor emporium downtown Seattle for $19.99. Came with a sleeve and belt attachment and a couple zinger doodads too but I just wanted the pliers.

I looked up the pliers and saw them on Amazon. Same $19.99 price…. How? Look so much 😎‘ER today with new color scheme. Pretty good rating too from many….Maybe I should get a second pair ???

Oh yeah. The fly. It’s a new one for me but it will be skirting the waves of the mighty Puget Sound tomorrow. For at least 30 minutes. But potentially more. I have two back ups just in case it’s a good one. Floater on long leader is the first approach.

Everyone I hope you get out to enjoy the tug that is happening in the sound right now. A very very decent year.

Just noticed booms vs boomerang. 😬

Two different companies. Holy sh*t… pliers have become like fly lines.

Sorry. Both good. I’m running away from this post I created. 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♂️

Gotta have me a good old multitool. Just don't feel right without one on the belt. Reminds me that I need a new one. thanks

I would have been fired from Abel if they suggested to sell pliers for $500. I would have said there's nobody dumb enough to buy pliers for 500 bucks. Then they probably would have said something like yeah but you know those four pack of Bobbers for a dollar, they sell them for $5 each at the Fly Shop.

On the same topic nail clippers also work very well for nippers. No need to go crazy, but the Abel ones will make other anglers happy when we they’re inevitably lost 👍

Nice pliers but the clouser is wrong. Chartreuse should be the wing color.......if you remember the thread from the old board. ;) :ROFLMAO:

Nail clippers rust out like immediately and die fast cutting hard fluoro. At $1 per, it adds up quickly. Happy to pay $50 for rust-proof nippers that stay sharp forever, and $100 for titanium pliers that will never die.

I like gear that doesn’t die or hold me back, and I’m willing to pay for it. $1000 rods tend to cast better and fish better than $100 rods, too.

The way I see it, if a person is bitching about the price, they’re not the target market. Those who want or need it will pay it. I, for example, will never pay for an engraved Abel reel, but I buy Tibors without blinking.

I have a pair of $4 Japanese stainless nippers that have been my backup for 5 yrs. No rusting, tons of use and abuse. The same lanyard has a set of Indian made lightweight pliers still going strong. $1k vs 100 rods are vastly different but a $1k vs $500, now we are talking apples to apples, with one apple paying for the owners investment funds and caviar.

Rapala makes a small small pair of scissors for less than $4 (Walmart) that cuts braid better than anything!
