Playing Hooky

Took some advice from a buddy and played hooky to ignore home projects this morning. He was right that I needed to recharge my batteries.

No fish were hooked or seen, but there was one spot that really set off my summer-steel spidey sense like it hasn't in ages.

30 years ago there would've been a half dozen gleaming bright torpedoes tucked into this run behind a downed tree. Got a good look on the way out in full sun and zero steelhead. Just wrong I tell ya!

Picked up some trash, including a fully inflated kids inner tube.

I did catch a couple bird pics. Some cedar waxwings on a logjam and an eagle that took off after munching on a dead sucker.

Probably my one and only summer steelhead trip. River still semi fresh from last week's rain but definitely on low side and dropping.

Good to get out for a bit. Now back to work.

Nice looking water!

Big slab of clay. Pretty common here in SWW rivers.
Okay, thought it might be clay but it also looked rectangular in the pic like the hood of an F150 or something.
