Is ripping through Oregon, highest rates since the 50's, and WA starting to spool up as well. Pertussis is especially dangerous to young children and infants, as it can quickly turn into pneumonia. Wife and I got our TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) booster vaccine a month ago when wife recognized the incoming spike, which is currently circulating through our gym...might consider reviewing your own vaccine status.

I'm all topped off, but somehow caught a regular old cold. Started feeling it Monday, and today feels the worst. Hope I'm turning the corner.
I've been sick with what seems like a bad head cold for a solid 8 days and just started feeling better on Monday. Had to cancel Christams and move the family party to New year's Day.

I had to update my tetanus protection and recently got the combo shot: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (TDAP). Its a common booster combo and as an old fart, provides additional benefits when I go to homes with small children who are really walking petri dishes

A couple of states ago, a neighbor somehow got it and gave it to his baby. It was pretty awful, but she pulled through. Since it falls under the tetanus booster label, adults don't always think about keeping up with it.

The online vaccination tracking website (myir) showed I was in need of an update of TDAP. My tetanus was almost out of date.

There is so much shit going around...RSV, Flu, Covid, Norovirus, and so much more. It lingers and linger when you catch it to.

Not fun to work in healthcare right now.
Seems like everyone I know has something right now…all different stuff like you said.

Just checked and it looks like I had my TDAP done a few years back. Here's to hoping it helps.

srsly....even worse for those who are already immunocompromised.

Many students will be returning to school next Monday. Perfect timing...

All the nurses, doctors and staff at Kaiser Sunnyside were required to wear masks. I found out Christmas Eve during the morning. Unbelievable how busy day surgery was!

The hospital my wife works at is back on masking, too.
Same with us where I work....although, with the immuno-compromised population we work with in my group, masking up never went away (even seasonally) when in direct patient contact....a really good thing IMO.

The mix of respiratory illnesses was running through my school hard since coming back from Thanksgiving. LOTS of pneumonia this year too. Not looking forward to finding out what everyone brought back from their assorted winter break activities.
