Personal Protection

Mental health is a real issue.
The days of custodial caretaking are gone.
The loonies are now part of the daily establishment.

Aaaand just added another one to the iggy list.

My Puerto Rican friends always told me, To each monkey his own swing.

In this case we've all made our choices, let's try to understand that.

Pretty offensive - The guy sped past police and around barriers, police with guns were not able to stop him. A heavy police presence beyond the barriers was not able to stop him.

Open/concealed carry is legal in New Orleans. No one while trying to dive out of the way, or push a loved one out of the way of this speeding vehicle was going to be able to pull a properly holstered weapon and stop him. Police were not able to kill the guy until after he crashed the vehicle.

Makes me think you really don't know what you're talking about, but just full of hot air and bullshit bravado.
After seeing the video showing the speed he maintained, I totally agree.
Consider this hot air too, but I honesty could careless what you think.
It's America and you are entitled to your opinion.

What would you consider to be the minimum yearly commitment?
Bare minimum, at least once a month. I would also strongly suggest enrolling in a defensive firearms instruction class. Carrying a firearm comes with great responsibility. Training is paramount. A firearm will do you no good if you can't hit anything. And adding stress and adrenaline can vastly alter your skill set.

As far as actual make/model goes, A Sig 365 is an ultra compact, quality 9mm, as is the Springfield Hellcat. I carry a Glock 19 9mm in town. When out in nature, I carry a Glock 20 10mm. A very powerful hard-hitting round.

Glock. 43x and 41 for me. I admittedly really only carry in the wilderness for a number of reasons, but I have a hard time wanting anything else. Glocks aren't sexy, but reliability and simplicity has a lot of appeal for a simpleton like me.
