I drove up to Paul's secret lake yesterday, and pretty much had the water to myself.. for the first hour or so. Then it got crowded. The plan was "hoppers and droppers", and I did see grasshoppers everywhere in the grass, but only had one refusal on mine. Plan "B" was a little (#12) olive egg sucking leech... and I got maybe 7-8 fat, healthy, 12-14" rainbows to my hand.
I had thoughts of running to the NE corner, but the breeze picked up around 10:30, so fear and better judgement made me start back. (I've been caught by the wind before!) Good to out on the water in the middle of the summer, and the 68* surface water temperature didn't seem to bother the fish much.
