Pass Lake Toxic Algae report.

So is Microsystin deadly if you touch it? Or is it only if you eat it or drink it?

Microcystins are absorbed by your gut and destroy the liver, kidneys, and damage the heart. They are PP1 and PP2A phosphatase inhibitors. I wouldn't swim in a lake that had high levels of microcystin producing blue algae due to risk of ingesting some contaminated water.

We not talking 'bout swimmin' we talking about C&R fishing. I usually bring my own refreshments.

Wow, after reading this I think I would be inclined to just pass on Pass.
No kidding….but given time, I can rationalize almost anything😏

like :

-it’s been more than two weeks since the last test, so it’s all good
-in years past it seems testing ends about this time, anyway
-no one’s gotten sick yet
-I don’t see any dead otters floating around
-I’ll just rinse all my gear at the end of the day
-it’s a civil thing and a public park, they can’t tell me what to do

I could keep going, but at the end of the day is it really worth it?

AND, my sister is a retired lake water sciency person who’s basically left me with the impression there are a ton of variables and going could be your ‘lucky lottery ticket’

that darn science stuff :sneaky:

So... if I'm anchored up and in the middle of my Bologna sandwich when my indicator goes down as usual, have my hands in the water to release the fish, and go back to my Bologna sandwich am I going to kick the bucket?
