The Balanced Equation

A dance of numbers
With certain reservation
An appointment missed
A referenced calculation
A line item on a list
Encumbered by integers
Variables and risk
What expression
Reflects its interior?
We graph the start
Divining the finish
Delineate and chart
A cosign and coordinate
Without distortion
The result
A viable proportion...
And balanced equation
 
Wind

Birds in motion,
Hovering suspended,
Upended, portent, rent,
Asunder, thunder, boisterous,
Limbs bow to the assault,
Such a thunderous tumult,
Momentum, gust, and trust,
Eaves, leaves wander aloft,
Falling so ever soft,
Aloft trying to cajole
That cleanse my soul,
Enunciates the wind,
That soothing breath,
Misbegotten robins’ nest,
Where has it gone?
A dawn of tranquilly,
Whence the winds cease,
When will there be peace,
The wind is ever-present,
And drives a course of life,
Stripping all that is rife
Of self importance,
The winds of change,
Rearrange all in its path,
Heaven breathes a sigh
Of relief and we maintain
The belief …that we are
Just empaths of analogy.
 
Dawn

Tell me how dark is the dawn
when it bequeaths the light
Tell me how the dark
Inhibits our clear sight

Distraction greets diffraction
Denial enables us forever
What we sow we tend to grow
All of this we surely know

Here comes the dawn
some kind of beginning
here comes the dawn
that exposes our sinning

each day comes and goes
Our feelings ebb and flow
Like some passion play
Changing day by day

Yet the dawn surely breaks
With us or without us
 
And one more

Glow

light is understanding
The sun gleams
On elements standing
Tangible and real
The surface of anything
In the light of day
Is defined by the iris
Of viewing and seeing
We covet what we see
Often with our being
And know the glow
Aids our seeing
There is a glow in life
Love and happiness
perspective and pain
All of it brings a refrain
The glow is ever present
In so many ways
Refraction of good and ill
The glow counts the days
light is understanding
The sun gleams
On elements standing
Tangible and real
The glow is with us
In every instance
We need to recognize
It's part of the dance.
Embrace the glow
Whatever it is
It proves we are alive
The glow is ever present

Moon Halo

The moon
Settled high
Glowing
With no stars
In the sky

Mars is
On the rise
Venus too
To my surprise

There is
A moon halo
Just so
I can see it
In afterglow

Silence beckons
I hear a loon
Under that halo
'Round the moon
 
Park

Tranquil and quiet
I am all alone
In this place
Away from home
A rural escape
A forgotten venue
With places to sit
Paint , write, think
And see what fits
I went to a park
And no one is there
Such a wondrous quiet
So different
I went to a park
No one there
No lake, no river
Just tables to sit
There are parks
That attract
With features that
Draw masses of people
And others forgotten
And lonely and
Exist only
To provide solitude
And where one
can connect with
Their muse
Alone and quiet
I like that
I like it a lot
I have found a place.
And sometimes it is
A place we all need.
 
Sleep

There's a lid over my head
Dark blue, a sheltering hue
In the east, or out to the west
The sun dies anew
The lid looms above us
Like a door ajar
a threshold, a blanket
Covering the stars
I look up with leaden eyes
and do not hasten to see
The sheltering blanket
That is above me
No need to wait
Not time to ask why
The sky above
Defies our cry
We look to the sky
Just look at the sky
The azure blue of shadow
And the clouds sigh
This is the time for sleep
As evenings cover inspires
The memories we keep
This is the time for sleep
 
Cusp

Here it is,
The cusp,
The dawning
Of change.

The Mayan sun
Lighting
Present
And past…

Here we are
On that
Unknown cusp
Of prophecy.

Our transition
Has come
And work
Has begun

Let us
Look with
Hope and
Peaceful transition

As calendars
Unfold
To evils
Remission.
 
Missing Tooth

I am smiling
with a gap
In my head
Trying to discern
What others have said
I got this hole
This telling space
It's not what you think
Just a place in my face
I have a missing tooth
A roadblock to a smile
I'm conscious of it
And it prevents a smile
We all have some loss
Some inhibition
I have this missing tooth
That prevents a smile
And I have to say
I have dealt with it a while
You can be a happy soul
And project the positive
But when you smile
That space between
Suggests the alternative
another perogative
I have a smile that
Is in this transition
But I'm so self conscious
That hopefully explains
It's omission…
I got a missing tooth
I can whistle like crazy
When I don't want to
And that is a bit crazy…

Right up front
It's what it is..
A facial afront...

The engine guns
A power of means
Gas driven expelling
all that is in between
Power and excess
We all like it
Exposing our need
For all of it
We connect and live
On earth, liking excess
When we converge
With a strong use
We accept this abuse
Big cars , always
It's what they say
We want and it continues
To this very day
Yet some know
It is a path
That will kill you
So here we are
at the cusp
Wondering
How we must
Adjust to a world that
Is tailored to a trust
Of buying and usury
So here we go
Let's put on a show
Let's use all the oil
We can and make
Everyone knows
We don't give a shit
We buy into it
It's all a foil , a ruse
just to stir turmoil
So I drive a truck
That is an oil filled can
I know I do what I can
If we make this transition
To alternate energy
Who can afford this
Wonderful synergy?
Too many left behind
Too many lost adrift
So how can we make
This paradigm shift?
So we have the belligerent
People not on board
Who think all of this
 
The Soft Machine

Blood flows
Lubricating
Cylinder joints
A spark and
Finger point
Joint tarsal
Wheel touch feel
Rigid or pliable
Fueled calorie
Capable potential
Breathe and exhaust
Energy transformed
But never lost
Analogy
Complexity
Similarly convened
Conceptualized
Presenting
The soft machine
 
On the Fly

The ripples and resounding water
A harmony that knows no bounds
Relentless and symphonic.
Across rock and sediment bed
Sleeping yet somber..
I find a chorus that speaks to me.
That staccato rhythm that has meaning to me..
I fashion a creation of feather and fluff
A creation that I think is good enough...
A hook, some thread and faith
That whatever large or small
Will come to see the presence of it all..
There it is this drift
Apart from the distraction around me...
The ripple of wind, the glint of light
On the water. the presence of life
Like no other. The stream makes all this possible
With a confluence of the perpetual...
Waters flow ever to the sea,
We are captured in that moment
Mesmerized and able to see..
The natural wonder of nature
And it's brilliant perpetual..
I revel in this presence
And seek it's grace...
Knowing all of it is God's face...
I am forever thankful and
Knowing that none of this is possible
Without knowing it is a gift
We need to see
The love of earth
