Outboard shortage/backorder?

I recently went to a local, well established marine store and placed an order for a yamaha 115jb. It's a 115/80 outboard jet. They of course gladly took my $1k deposit no problem. Now they tell me it's gonna be awhile before they will get it. So I go online and search. I find a website stating that the motor, the specific one I'm interested in, is backorder until 12/24. Really???
Does anyone have any industry knowledge as to the state of outboard shortages? The marine store has a 150/115 jet in stock, but it weights 120 pounds more. Not the direction I want to go.

All I know is I had zero delays getting my Suzukis a few months ago. Suzuki is doing more repowers than any of the other brands and seems to be keeping up nicely.

I didn't shop for yamaha so not sure there

The Suzuki's are the top motors it seams these days and would be the route I would go if I needed to repower!

They were my top pick after a ton of research. Been super happy with my 60hp and 200hp so far. The many I know who have Suzuki all love them too. They came a very long ways the last few years.
