I dig Oros indicators for those times when I'm fishing a fly less than a rod length below the indicator. If I'm fishing deeper than that rod length, I use the best darn indicator ever constructed. They're indestructible. They're HIGHLY visible. They work well. @Shawn Seeger's: The SeegerCator™, made in Washington State.
I've really never had an issue in the catching department with my setup, which is super quick and easy to change depths (zero re-rigging required). The only break offs may occur on the terminal end, not the section where the bobber is connected. The way I see it, the less break offs I have, the less time I spend re-rigging, the more I'm actually fishing, not to mention less plastic bobbers littering the river. To each their own. Not gonna sit here and argue which way is better....keep on doin what your doin since it sounds like it sorta works for ya!

The time I can break off an indicator is when fishing a lake at depth. No issue. But then a hatch starts in shallow and the fish are feeding shallower than the length of tippet. So I can rerig or just move my indicator onto the tippet. That is when I can break one off. AFWIW oros indicators are pretty biodegradable.
B2B accounts setup with Oros only, which I'm not. I would contact a shop or Oros directly I guess. Good luck!

I haven't been doing it for 50 years.
I don't do it over 40 times a year.
I don't catch any fish when I do fish a stillwater.
