I went looking for coastal cutthroat in the home lake Friday morning. With the dry (so far) October, I wasn't expecting any sea runs as the outlet to the ocean is just a trickle right now. I figured there could be some adfluvial fish around and there were. I was casting and stripping my go to (a Delia wonder worm streamer) in the flats adjacent to the main tributary. I had plenty of grabs, hooked a handful of dinks, long leadered a decent one, and landed my lake PR - a well fed ~16 incher.
It's finally raining this morning and the forecast looks wet this upcoming week. That should clear out the algae bloom, get the tribs flowing and draw in some fresh sea runs.
