Oregon Coast Advice Needed

I’m doing an impromptu trip to the northern Oregon coast in a few days and looking for some ideas on fishing options. I’m mostly interested in jetty options for rockfish as I will probably only have a partial day for fishing. I’ve also never fly fished the jetty’s before and I’ve always wanted to try it out. That being said if there is a better opportunity for right now I am open to ideas. Does anyone know which jetty’s are suitable for fly fishing? Tillamook would most likely be the furthest I’ll be traveling along the coast. I’ll be bringing a gear rod with a foldable crab trap as well. Feel free to PM if you don’t want to blast spots/info online.

Thanks,
Dave

I just got back from the Oregon coast fished 5 days. I would highly recommend going out with dory boats as you can run a combo of crab and rockfish and salmon fishing has been good. Pacific city which is just south of Tillamook is what I would recommend. Send me a pm if this area is with in range.

There has been a ton of baitfish around and the widow rockfish smelt work also. And the stand closer minnows will work. And don't forget poppers as when the fish are up top it's a blast.

I've never been to Oregon, so can't help you, but I hope that you will provide a report here on what you find, once you're able. It sounds like a great adventure!

Ok, I didn’t do any fishing on my 4 day trip down south as I realized that it was better to just spend quality time with the girlfriend. I really appreciate the advice I received and special thanks to @Denwor54 for talking through some ideas with me. Unfortunately it was too late to book a guided trip but I plan on making it happen next year.

We lucked out on some coastal campsites but really had to work for them and ended up driving further than expected. Found some early mushrooms and a few of the first evergreen huckleberries, did a little beach agate hunting and ate and drank well. Not a bad time!
