One more trip before the Ice Age hits!

It was high 40’s by noon today and starting tomorrow we aren’t supposed to get above freezing for a while. So, I thought I better get a river trip in before real winter starts. Hiked down the nature trail looking for the steep staircase that leads to one of my favorite stretches of water. Walked by it a couple times, which led me to believe it hasn’t seen much use lately. There was only one set of footprints going down and back up, so I figured this stretch hasn’t seen much pressure since our last snowfall over a week ago. It was a bit slippery, but made my way down without incident. I was rewarded with some pretty decent fishing, hooking up on just my third cast and netting a total of seven with a couple missed takes. After about an hour, the wind kicked in and was blowing hard, I fished a bit longer picking up my last fish around 1:30. Tired of fighting the wind (15mph with gusts to 25 according to the app on my phone) I headed home. Even though it was short lived, it was a beautiful day with some nice fish.

The route less traveled.

BEAUTIFUL BROWNS... if the fishin gets bad, the geology on the other side of the river looks really interesting. those look like five year old fish...count the scale rings under a microscope. It'll also show you strong growth years.
