On lake fly line dressing.............?

When I'm fishing a strike indicator and kicking around in my float tube or anchored up in my pram as the day progresses my floating line starts to sink. For years now, when my lines starts sinkin', I've dressed the last dozen or so feet of line with Mucilin (the green tub). I thought I'd order some from one of the online fly shops. I guess shops don't carry it anymore so what do folks use now?

A quick fix on the lake Pat is dry fly floatant. I use my Loon gel on the sinking front portion if it starts to dip under….

I have not used it, but I have seen a silicon based product called Special Delivery. Simply spray it onto your line, while it's still on the reel. The solution will soak through the coils of line and there is no need to wipe the line down.

If the tip of your line has been cut to where the core is exposed then water can enter the line and change its density. A drop of UV resin at that area will stop that. PVC lines will soak up water and collect dirt especially as the slick finish wears off as they age.

I typically add a drop of Knot Sense and cure it when I nail knot a butt section on.......... I was just looking at my deep water indicator lines, no cracking. I cleaned the lines and built a new 24' leader in preparation for a Wednesday outing.

I hate those loops where the leader is attached. I have one older 4wt rod that doesn't let them through the tip and the first few guides very easily. I always cut them off at that location, and usually a few feet of the taper to boot if I think it is too thin.

I think Buzzy's main problem is that he's not catching fish fast enough thereby giving the line more time to sink. I can't be sure though because I've never experienced that.

Ouch! I hate to admit that you've hit on a truism - Friday the only thing that tugged my indicator down was lake grass drifting in the wind.

I've been cutting of fly line loops for the same reason.
