Thanks, my wife and I were in Billings talking care of my mother and my son and grandkids grabbed some rods, waders, etc. For me what I don’t have is mostly replaceable but my wife’s broken heart is my main concern right now.

Man…I’m so sorry. My mom lives in that same neighborhood you do…somehow her home survived. The pictures she has shared with me are awful.

Thanks Ben, I believe we have a mutual acquaintance, Scott, Dave’s best friend and Dave was someone I fished with regularly.

I remember that, you reaching out when he passed. Joe, Daves nephew, inherited Daves house from him, which Dave had inherited from his mother, my great grandmother. It was boxed in on 3 sides to within half a mile but made it through.

I definitely thought about you and your safety after I heard that it crossed the highway and went up the hill.

While I know flyfishing will be the last thing on your mind for a long time, I've quite a bit of spare gear should the need occur.

Doubtful. I've read that true sociopaths are completely incapable of empathy.

He just needs to be locked up for life, which is quite likely under WA state criteria for Class A felony arson of this magnitude.

wow, tuff loss.
i went with a starlink mini, and it was an easy install, with an internal router. so its kind of like a plug and play. plus portable - i use it in our van.
if you can connect to others in the area that are dealing with the insurance mess - that can be beneficial. there is probably a facebook forum, and these can be helpful. while there is the typical BS of facebook, there is also good info, contacts, experiences, etc. just like this fishing forum.
if you can find someone who has gone thru a similar tragedy - that would be helpful to learn from their experiences. like most things - we all would do things somewhat differently the second time thru. maybe you could assign this task to another family member ??

What a tragic loss……so glad you’re all safe. As said, the pictures look like a war zone. I can’t imagine the loss you both feel. Thankfully you have another place where others have none. Insurance companies are willing to take your money but trying to get some back is another thing. Hopefully a smooth transaction for you. Keep the faith, better days ahead.

@Old406Kid Dean I am so sorry. Unfortunately we both know too many people in the same situation. Even being here it is hard to wrap my head around how many people have lost so much. Glad you are both safe, and that time can heal the heart.

A couple of pictures of what it was before the fire.



The first picture was our profoundly disabled son's bedroom complete wit his Hill Rom hospital bed and elevated tub so we could use a hoyer lift to bath him. We lost him at age 40 but kept his room the same and I used it during my recovery from extensive colon and stomach cancer surgery.
The second picture is a guest bedroom.
I redid all of the woodwork and she had the whole house decorated this way.
We went into the post office in Plains today to change our permanent address and she broke down in tears...kinda feels like burying a loved one. We can rebuild but it will never be the same.
