I realized on this trip that I have been coming out here for a decade now. Ruby has been gone over a year now. I will always have a place in my heart for her, so many good memories of many explorations together.
My last trip last fall was the first time there without dog duty, it felt strange.
This trip I watched Pearl, she is almost 9 months old at the end of my 2 week stay.

She is not a great listener, but a really good girl for being so young. I would forget at times that she is just a pup.
We did a fair amount of exploring, tried to get her out somewhere new every day. It was fun to watch her go from unsure and slightly skittish on the way out the first time to excited and confident after a few outings.

Nice time of year to be there, but it’s always good to be there.

The trout spey got a lot of love, some of the best eats and runs I’ve ever had from trout, they were like mini steelhead !
I always feel so fortunate to be able to do this and the other trips I do. I am not of great financial means, but good fortune smiles upon me. Doing good has its own rewards as an old friend used to say.

A cell pic of sheep across the river from the hay barn above - at the springs mid way down slope.
I saw bighorn sheep 9 of the days I was there from the property! I saw more upriver. Horses were around 1 day at home and if I went upriver I saw plenty. More osprey and turkey vultures than ever.

Turkey vultures roosting on the property.
