It has been two years since I have gotten out and I am not particularly amused. Issues with shoulders and legs that I will leaves right there.

The Yak has dropped to some really nice flows and what the hell, my shoulders hurt like hell and my legs will only carry me about 200 yards just the hell with it I am going out. I use to cover miles of river in a day I Quess now I will do it 200 yards at a time.

This isn't a pity me thing but rather a bit of frustration. Adjusting to 75 is different kind of trip.

Getting out on the river is getting out on the river, however you do it. Stoked for you!

Kindred spirits, Dave. Go with care.

Ibuprofen rules! Take one an hour or so before you hit the trail, before the pain. Then more as needed, as per the advice on the bottle. Tight lines!

Hey Dave, WELCOME to the Old Peoples club. I don't wade skinny water anymore either. I carry a camp chair in my P/U, I find a casting spot and put my ass in my chair and cast away. But you have to find a spot where you know where the fish are at. And I know where they are at.

I need to get out and fish, hearing stuff like this puts life in perspective. We can't do it forever and at the same capacity forever, so fish while you can! When you are young, find spots you can access and catch fish close to a road/trail

I hauled my boat over to the river today only to have my partner bail at the last minute. It was pouring down rain so I bailed.

Should’ve fished.

I have turned into a fair weathered fly fisherman. I don't go out when it's raining. I might melt. I got me a rain coat but why I'll never know. I wore it one time It was misting out, but I never liked it. It was something I bought but didn't get to try it on. One of my mistakes.

time for fishing Fall lakes again.
will be at Lenice this weekend.
hope the black flies are gone

My uncle finally gave up snow skiing after hitting 81?

Age and usage does take a toll on the body.

My dad still mnt bikes at 79.
He is an anomaly.

It's a bitch getting old.
I fished my local creek for 6 hrs the other day and it has taken two days to recover.

Long ago, I learned that I truly enjoy watching other people fish. When I was (temporarily ) unable to fish, I was still able to watch other people fish. It really is the next best thing (or even better) then fishing. Of course locating a good vantage point above a river, beach or lake to set up a chair is ideal. And expensive binoculars, or even telescopes with a tripod make it ten times more fun. Sitting in a chair, sipping on a margarita, watching the "show" can be fun.... that "show" may be a bunch of newbies,,, or an artistic angler,,,, or a child catching their first fish. Personally, I would love to drive around the streams in Montana and simply observe. You really don't always have to be fishing to enjoy fishing.

Love this sentiment. I too love watching people fish. I remember being a young kid (under 10) on our summer fishing charter and not even wanting a rod because I wanted to see all the fish get landed. I would run around the deck like a madman when the action was hot. Probably pissed off a few captains and deckhands but the stoke was too much to contain.

This morning around 9am I came out of the Quilomene with my setter after two days of chukar hunting. I brought along my fishing tackle just to take advantage of those low flows on the Yakima, but I was so beat up from chukar hunting I couldn't pull it off. I reluctantly drove past all the beautiful water on my way home. I hated that!

I can go to the Eastern Sierras and focus on one stream or one lake for three days,,,, or I can drive around exploring, seeing what every body else is doing, in all the surrounding areas. Both options are a blast. But when pain gets in the way, I turn on the air conditioning and go for a drive. I've landed plenty of fish........ Fishing is not a spectator sport, however, if you want it to be one, you can make that happen.

Did I get out NO! I have an incision from a surgery to connect my femoral arteries that is giving me HELL. It just won't let go. I go so far and just have no option but to sit down and get the pressure off which is directly under my belt. It's not rocket science to figure out what I need to do. That takes about 10 minutes if I have a good place to sit and stretch out my leg.

Maybe this week I see the surgeon on Wednesday day and a resolution can be reached.

That sounds awful. Good luck!

You might drive around streams in Montana to watch folks fish. But this time of the year there isn't to many brave souls out fishing like it is in the summer time. Way lot less people out and about. And I just can't seem to get my ass out also.
