OFFICIAL 2026 NFL SEASON DISCUSSION

Been a Seahawks fan since 1988 when I broke my neck looking up at Brian Bozworth. At least Dave Kreig was eye level. Ma Bell flew me to Seattle to train someone on a computer program involving the tower climbers' schedules in 3 states.

Sorta like Hawks and Mariners fans when they fail to make the playoffs, very fair-weather, maybe the most fair-weather, I'm not saying that, but many people say it, very powerfully ...
Who are these Mariner fans you speak of, and where do they reside?
They are not like Seahawks fans, I can tell you that.

Should be an ugly TNF game tonight. Most Thursday games are ugly. This one has the added benefit of being played by a Patriots team that has lost it's top 3 guards. The replacement guards performed admirably in the run game last week. They will likely struggle against the Chicago blitz. If they can hold up in pass protection, then the Pats should be able to get some big plays through the air against a vulnerable Bear secondary, even without Romeo Doubs. The key will be on 1st and 2nd downs. If the Pats get behind the sticks at all, their makeshift line will be vulnerable. If they can stay ahead of the sticks, Maye's deep ball talents could lead to some explosives. The Bears give up 4.5 Y/C so there is some hope that the Pats will be able to run on the early downs.

The two teams defenses are statistically very similar. They both feature creative blitz packages. The Bears defense has been trick or treat, struggling against the better offenses that they have played. The Pats D has only one real stinker vs. the Jags but much of that was due to trunovers on offense.

The Bears score a lot of points and hold on to the ball when they have Caleb Williams healthy. My beloved Patsies will need to stop the run and the quick game. Ben Johnson loves to run the ball and he will try against a Bi-polar Patriots run defense. This may be a game Barmore sees fewer snaps on early downs in favor of better run defending DT's. Former Chickenhawk Dremont Jones will likely see more snaps as well, with rookie edge Gabe Jakas seeing fewer run down snaps. When the Bears pass, the Patriots should be able to cover, whether they can chase down Willliams remains to be seen. Fortunately, they are missing only one starting corner (Carlton Davis III) this game.

Vegas has the Bears as 3 pt. favorites.
