OFFICIAL 2026 NFL SEASON DISCUSSION

Lack of any sort of running game.
Lack of any sort of consistant use of the tight ends.
Lack of any one other then JSN stepping up (Shaheed).
Lack of ball security.
Lack of pass pro.

I could go on.

I also think the loss of Kubiak as OC is a bigger deal than many realize. He schemed for the weaknesses in the offense in ways Fleury hasn't figured out how to do yet.

Yeah that was my take too... Kubiak turned some straw to gold down in Vegas, he probably didn't get enough credit last year...

So in conclusion: most people are going to blame Darnold. He's certainly not without blame, but the team around him isn't doing him any favors. He's constantly under pressure, his receivers are very well-covered because teams don't need to worry about the run game, and the first-time OC hasn't learned how to scheme for any of that. Tough to be successful at QB when every throw you have to take is a risky one, and you're doing it with someone in your face every snap.

c-hawks drop to 3rd place in the NFC WEST after the LA RAMS defeat the red birds. Let the rainy season begin!

PS - Broncos won the Russell Wilson trade 🤣

Perhaps paying Walker would have been a good move...

Perhaps? If GMs could build a team on hindsight, they'd never lose again. But it made perfect sense at the time. Walker did NOT want to come back if he was splitting carries with Charbonnet again. He made that very clear. The Seahawks had other players to pay, so they went with their other RB1 (Charbonnet) who was playing better than K9 before he got hurt, and drafted a high upside rookie. That plan would likely work out if they were both playing, but obviously them being on IR leaves a lot to be learned there.

GM’s need to build a team on foresight…

GM’s need to build a team foresight…
Walker wanted to be paid a lot of money and to be the featured RB1, not sharing RB1 duties. Given his history of injuries and not being able to play full games, that made little sense to pay the premium and downgrade their other RB1 just to make him happy. Thus the foresight said "let's draft a K9 replacement and split carries with our other established RB1 so we can pay Spoon, JSN, etc." Hopefully both will be back to playing in the coming weeks.

Payton's choke chain had Nix playing more conservative than a Tea Party Republican.
Darnold's happy feet in the pocket = way too few screens and traps to counter the rush, longer routes had him throwing off stance while being chased.
Tough end of season schedule for the Hawks/Rams...they play each other Xmas Day in Seattle and then again two weeks later in La-La land.
Apparently our bribes to the schedule maker are paying off.

The life of a running back is a hard one, and usually short lived. A deep bench is vital. Shared duty should be the expectation rather than the limelight; that's a better team strategy. Garnering record yardage is only feasible if you're Beast Mode.

Don’t get me wrong…I think John Schneider is one of the best GM’s in the biz…but Walker is averaging over 134 yds per game, and is the primary reason his team is undefeated at this time.

Seahawks have no running game…period.

Ive always subscribed to the notion that you don't leave fish to find fish.

But that isn't how Walker played for the 4yrs he was in Seattle. The playoffs/SB were outliers. Again, the power of hindsight is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. We know now that keeping him was probably the better move, but at the time nobody was surprised and most agreed it made sense to draft his replacement.

Bonus point
Oof!
Boink.
