I agree that fly lines spook carp, don't ask how I know.

Might be fun to head out that way some time and see how you do it.

So, after picking up a handful of spunky, football shaped 16" trout on a Basin lake, my streamer suddenly stops dead, mid column in 20 FOW.
??
Surely a carp did not eat a 3" bunny streamer!
Then it starts moving. Then it proceeds to tow my Hobie around while I'm doing a pump and reel with a 5wt, trying to haul whatever it is up out of the depths. No luck trying to break off the 2X fluoro. By the time I get this foul-hooked mofo close enough to grab the fly, it's towed me a quarter mile down the lake
That's a tough freaking fin!

While trout fishing in the Katmai, I accidentally hooked a chum in the dorsal on a 6wt…fortunately the 16 lb test leader parted while I was a couple turns from the arbor knot. I feel your pain…
