Tooted as Hip-Hop. Nah, that was Rap. On the good side of the Super Bowl was the "Born To Be Wild" Commercial with those crazy old ladies! I can relate!
My one and only karaoke performance was that song on Bikini Atoll, where I visited along with two of my collogues (which doubled the population at the time)...our guest host, who was the station biologist and his two Marshallese workers witnessed the fine rendition on the beach next to a bonfire that I'm pretty sure you could see from the Space Station (it fused sand into glass)...

In college I attended a class named 'Music Appreciation'. Each week we would just go to class and listen. It was a different genre every few days/week. It opened my eyes and increased my appreciation for all types of music from around the world.

To get a B in class, attend every class. To get an A, attend every class + 2 concerts and write-up a review.

Best class ever!

Lotta griping about the halftime show around here. In general, I think most all halftime shows suck because of the limitations that get put on the whole performance. That said...

While Kendrick's music isn't my preferred style of hip hop, it's worth pointing out that the guy is really REALLY popular. Maybe not TayTay popular. But he's won 22 Grammys, the Pulitzer prize, an Emmy, and a boatload of other awards. He has two of the highest grossing concert tours in history, has sold over 50 million records, and is regarded as a significant influence on HipHop and music in general. Plus, when you get to diss Drake in front of 100 million people over his creepy interactions with underage girls, that's worth noting.

As best I can tell, there's real "age gap" as far as opinions on Kendrick's performance. Fans of his and younger folks loved it, for the most part. Other people would just like to see the animated corpes of the Rolling Stones again or Up With People. But like I said earlier, all halftime shows kinda suck and I'm not sure I've ever seen one that got any sort of unanimous approval.

FWIW, I thought it was fine but nothing particularly special. If you liked the music, you'd like if. If you didn't, you'd probably think it was boring. Not really any different than any other recent performer.

I wonder what the average age of the ticket buyers were? I’m sure the old farts in the crowd really enjoyed it….. I changed channels during half time and watched Cops then returned for the second half.

Sounds a lot like the Science Fiction Book Reading Class I had in High School. Some of what I read is now science fact!

Given that tickets are like $2000-5000 (unless you win one of a very small number of "lottery" ones that are $1000-2000 or so), I suspect there weren't a lot of teens/twenty-somethings buying tickets.

Mercifully I didn't see a second of the halftime fiasco as we turned the sound down at the end of the half and retired to the dining room. I have no idea who the hell was performing but gather that it was closer to garbage than artistic endeavor. If it was just rap that is sad because rap is not music, it is the absence of music.

Are we over the Janet Jackson Nip Slip yet?

I thought that Scott Schnier had his usual good day with the music. He and I are more closely alligned musically.
