Oar Lock Riser/Spacers

For those of you with drift boats/rafts/etc. and long legs, what are you using for risers for the oar locks? I love my Clack, but I am tired of hitting my knees when I am rowing. I already switched from 9.5" oars to 9' oars to change the angle, but I need like an 1" (I am 6'2" and have long legs).

I was looking at the Hyde spacers, but thought I would see what others were using as well. I am thinking maybe Grainger might have an option in a HDPE washer/bearing that would be 3/4 to 1" tall.

I just took a 1 inch or 1.5 inch diameter, piece of PVC pipe. I cut it to the length I desired, for the rise, which was about 2 inches. I slip the cut PVC tube, onto the oar lock shaft. I then slip the assembly into the oar lock hole. The PVC assembly/riser is then above the gunnel, stopped by the gunnel and up to the bottom of the oarlock, giving you the rise of whatever length you cut. In my case, a 2 inch rise in the oarlock.

Best thing about this set up is its inexpensive. With one piece of PVS you can play around with a plethora of riser lengths. The only limiting factor is in the length of the shaft of your oarlocks, as you need at least some of the shaft to put your cotter pin into to secure the whole contraption.

That is a great idea. I might actually have some laying around. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
 
Where are you at? I have some scrap 1/2" UHMW laying around that could be made into spacers with a drill bit and a hole saw.

Everett. I might take you up on that. A guy on reddit said he found some at Ace that worked great for cheap. I am going to take a look this afternoon and update here in case anyone else is looking, but if that doesnt work I'll let you know.
