NW Montana

My wife and I spent a few days in Montana last week. The fishing was tough for me. I don’t fish a ton on these trips but I fish a couple hours during prime time everyday so I don’t have any excuses. I had never seen this river before but it looked amazing and I fished good water. I’ll be back for sure. I think a small streamer fished on a tight line throough the rock gardens would have been deadly. I just don’t have that tool in my bag at the moment. Next time!

Any fish that ls landed on new water is a success. Learning what might be the ticket in the future is priceless. Time to go back!

Time spent fishing with wife and dog is priceless IMHO.
I agree with you on that! Although, my dog is a real hassle to fish with. He goes in front and swims every piece of water I want to fish. I am learning that the first day is futile until he's tired. After that, he stands on whatever rock I'm on and tracks my line. Pretty weird behavior for a shepherd. The other thing that helps is catching a fish because he will dig at the spot, I released that fish for quite a while and that buys me some time.
