Yeah, I forgot to add my perspective. Isn't it more like 6 or 7 months of nice weather, then 3 or 4 months of sorta' tolerable weather, with 2 months of sheer hotter 'an hell? But I digress; the point is about water and water over-appropriation.

Once that spiket is shut off it won't be so privileged and will weed them out, but, the true desert dwellers will find a way as they always have.
The billion dollar question will be what's Vegas gonna do with no water?
Unless things change quickly, they are all fucked down in that area. No doubt they will be asking the feds to bail their asses out, and blaming everyone and everything other than their own short sighted, consumptive asses for what was always inevitable.
Once Lake Mead, fed by the diminishing Colorado, gets low enough it will hard stop hydro power for 1.3M homes....the dam is only producing 67% of capacity as it is due to the plummeting lake level reducing turbine outflow spin.
That earlier thread about home values? A currently 400K AZ house beginning to have inconsistent water pressure/quality and frequent blackouts in 100+ temps will=zero value.
There are endless scientifc papers on 'drought migration' in the US and around the globe, and regardless of source, they all draw the same conclusion.
"A rrecent study led by Stony Brook University researchers suggests that human migration due to droughts will increase by at least 200 percent as we move through the 21st century."
A lot for young folks to consider these days...jobs, community, water. Without the latter, there is no former.

Oregon wants their property tax dollars. We just did away with low density residential zoning…The general idea is to make the taxes on your property so expensive you will have to subdivide and sell some off for further development.
