Just thought I’d put this out there now so folks have enough time to plan to participate if you wish, which I would recommend.

As you know, there were some changes to the regulations last year versus 2023. If I recall correctly, the net results were 15 days less coho fishing in MA 9 in July due to a later opener and more restrictive regulations. Basically, unless chinook fishing was open, you couldn’t fish for coho on non chinook days in July.
With the loss of October coho fishing, that has reduced the MA 9 coho season down to two months (August & September) plus a few days in July. I believe we only had three days to fish coho in July last year.
We have some major challenges this year with Hood Canal wild coho as well as the yearly challenges with Stilly chinook.
Please let WDFW know your thoughts and express what you want to see regarding seasons and regulations.
