The NFL doesn't have to do anything about the refs, because the ratings and merch sales are still great, and they make tons of money.
It's a business, and unless it cuts into to profits nothing will change.
 
it's pretty amazing how much more we, the viewers, can see with both 4K & the over-abundance of cameras....remember the good old days when we could watch it in black and white, quarterbacks could be body-slammed, when someone got a concussion and the fix was some smelling salts & we couldn't see all of the apparent non-calls by the refs? yeah, that was great.
 
Yes. Don't forget they are making these calls live in real time. Some of those sideline/end zone calls are pretty incredible, thinking no way that was inbounds and the replay shows it was. Not an easy job.And of course, they could throw a flag on every play, so making judgements about the relevance of tossing the flag is just in the nature of the job.

The argument on your last point is that they then basically have license to call them when they feel like, and they seem to feel like calling those types of penalties at crucial times.

Are the refs perfect? Fuck no.

Are they biased? Nope. You guys just focus on a couple key plays.

Truth is inferior linemen/DBs grab and hold more. @Evan B earlier this year you were bitching about your O line play. Now its the refs.

You have to believe in a massive conspiracy theory to think the refs are trying to put one team ahead. Thats flat earth/moon landing shit.

Play better, win the game. Every pro athlete will tell you that.
 
No the oline still sucks.

Like I said, I'm only leaving some level of conspiracy as a possibility. My main point is there's a fixable problem they aren't fixing. Games are increasingly getting worse due to reffing and the better teams aren't winning some of those as a result.

Bottom line is it's making it hard to watch no matter the cause.

Well I typically wasn't just planted on the couch doing nothing. I usually take that time to get caught up on forum business/accounting, cleaning, food prep or a long list of other things while the game is on . I am not very good at sitting idle.
