What a sorry game
It was less shitty in the second half, but tough to watch a hawks team with this much talent beat themselves with terrible scheming and play calling.
What a mess of a game.
Crazy to compare Hawks to a team that has a serious football mind calling plays. When was the last time Seattle had a legitimate creative offensive coord?
On the flip side, Niners seem out of whatever slump they were in. I bet they make a strong run.

I don't even think it's a coordinator thing. Pete has a scheme and philosophy he has always run. The coordinator is just there to make that happen. The offenses have been essentially the same going all the way back to when Darrell Bevell was OC... Except with less bubble screens now.

Niners keep opening the door when it needs to be shut but overall a good game. For all the credit Kyle gets as an offensive guru, mostly deserved, its the D that is their strong suit. Given that they lose their D coordinator year after year you gotta chalk that up to culture. And that credit is Shanahan's.

The Shanahan offense is centered on the run game. It's all focused on McCaffrey being productive. Purdy is just an arm, occasionally tossing a good pass after the run game has set up the opposing defense. Stop McCaffrey and the run, gain a lead, then the pressure falls on Purdy who struggles playing from behind against a pass rush. Any good scheme is centered on the run game.
You failed to mention why that is Purdy's fault.

I ended up watching the Ole Miss vs Miss St game which was chippy and much more entertaining versus watching the Hawks.

Purdy has the longest touchdown pass in the NFL this year and consistently throws into tight windows, reflecting his experience as a full time starter from high school through 4 years of college. His teammates love his confidence and low demand demeanor, and no one expected him to come back so fast from his arm injury...at just 23 years old he has nothing but upside to his game, he will only get better. And when Hall Of Fame QB's like Troy Aikman and Steve Young gush over him, probably have a good reason.
