New(?) guy here

Chad D.

Smolt
Good morning, all. I’m new here, but an old-ish salt from the area. I’m moving over here because I like what Evan, Billy, and Josh have been doing lately.

I’m not much of a fly fisherman (at all), but it has my attention. I’ve drown a few million worms in my time, as well as trolled up piles of fish with all kinds of heathen gear. I vow to be nice!

Hell yeah, welcome to both of you.

I swear, give popper flies for panfish or bass a try. It's a hell of a lot more fun than worms.

Happy to see you all!

Here's where a lot of the discussion you're interested is likely to take place: https://pnwflyfishing.com/forum/index.php?forums/gear-fishing-dirtbags.7/

Would love to see more activity there. I also plan to make it so that anyone who doesn't want to see the increased activity if they browse by "New," can hide it if they want. Best of all worlds (I hope!)

Welcome aboard! Glad to see some gear dirtbags here....I'm dirtbag curious myself....even own a couple of spinning rods that get used from time to time.

Just joined and from PNWfishing. BTW, I am the daughter of one of the original 4 men that started Association of NW Steelheaders. Still the secretary of the McLoughlin Chapter (which is very small). I have a boat, it is in storage, and I don't use it (needs work and I have other prioritys being on SS). I do fish off the bank when I have time. Love it here, the guys are respectable.

Nothing wrong with a spinnin’ rod, torpedo bubble, some flies, a spool of leader material, and some runnin’ water to wash it all down. Some of the best times in my formative years were had with such a set up. 😉😁

Why do you think I bust mine out from time to time? Fun.

@Chad D. Welcome.
I’m assuming you’re a HomeStreet fan? They are not having a great year so far.
I’m a fan of almost all types of racing. Ultra-4 holds a special place in my heart, as I’ve been involved with more than just a couple of race teams at King of the Hammers over the last decade. Hydroplane races are something that I’ve had the pleasure of attending over the last 5-6 years, only missing one round at the Tri-Cities Water Follies in that time. Two of my best friends moved back home to Kennewick, and they got me hooked. In fact, I just got home last night…

The photo in my avatar is just my favorite shot of an unlimited hydro. All air under the boat, with just half of the prop in the water. Nothing better than standing sack-deep in the river while these things blaze by you, mostly airborne, at close to 200 mph!

Home Street team did fine this weekend, along with their teammates with the Goodman team. They went 1/2 in their last heat, but Home Street had a poorly timed start in the main. The two Beacon teams did really well also, going 1/2 in their last heat.

Next month is the Reno Air Races. I’ll be there for the week. My first time going, and also the last time it will be held. Property owners have reportedly sold the venue. Guessing it’ll be apartments in the next coupla years…

My bucket list race is that crazy bike race on some little island…. Isle of Man TT…. Some day!

I grew up racing motocross. Stopped when I finished high school and didn't get on a dirt bike since then. Now the only racing I do involves running shoes.

Love me some hydro racing. Heck, I love most types of racing. NASCAR, World of Outlaws, Indycar, SailGP, etc

This has been the fate of so many local auto racetracks in the past few decades. It's a bummer.

Welcome to the new folks. Nothing wrong with gear, I'm teaching the grandkids to fish, and often we will use both the fly and spin setups on an outing. Somewhere my son went wrong though as he likes his baitcaster and plastics. :) Looking forward to your contributions.

That's a fact. My favorite "local" off-road racing venue was the Wild West Motorsports Park on the NE side Reno by Mustang. It was a top notch facility that hosted some of the best races I've been to, and was the track for the Ultra-4 final race each year. The top racers would let it all hang out since they had a few months off before the next season kicked off at KOH. Made for some exciting races, including one where a fella got waaaayyyy out of shape going through the last rocks section and crossed the finish line in reverse...

That track is done and now they hold that race in Oklahoma... Bummer.

To be honest, that's why we're doing the air race this year. Gets me out of the house.
