This week I took delivery of a new Instant Vortex Mini air fryer that will live in the Casa once the fishing season opens again. I have been cooking with it and so far am quite impressed. It is quite compact with only a 9'' square footprint so it will be easy to store and transport. The cooking surface is 6.5'' x 6.5'', just about perfect for single servings or even two. Controls are better than my bigger Cosori with a dial control rather than push and hold buttons. But best of all it is a 1300w model so it plays well with my 1500w power station. So far I have been cooking things using the 110v output of the new Jackery 1000v2 power station and timing cook times while observing power usage. I expected more power consumption, especially at 1300w but have been pleasantly surprised by the modest usage to this point.
Up till now making toast for breakfast has always been less than ideal but now I can do it without fuss in just 3 or 4 minutes with only about a 4% loss of power. Anything else that will fit in the basket is fair game and with each model of air fryer the cooking seems to improve over previous models. This one cooks the best yet. Back when I bought the big Cosori it was one of the highest rated models on the market but by now the Instant models have surged to the top and the Vortex Mini seems to be a good example of their excellence.
Now if it will just last I will be a happy camper. In the past 18 months I have had a checkered history of success with electric/electronic devices with some highly rated products failing unpredictably. As the season progresses I will report any failures/successes and hope there are no more repeats of the Setpower refrigerator fiasco or the Jackery that failed 4 days into a 14 day road trip.
