Nets?

I never really use a net too often and never have carried one with me except in a boat. Well bought a couple bamboo rods and realized a net mite keep me from breaking a rod section.
Saw some hand made bamboo nets made by hellbender on line and ordered one for me and one for my better half. Just received them today and I'm pretty impressed. Nice workmanship and a great classic look to them. We'll see how they hold up and if I like dragging a net around with me.

Those look really nice. I have several nets that I’ve accumulated over the years. I find myself carrying one with me about 50% of the time. I like fishing for wild native trout in rivers and streams and am catching smaller fish most often so find that a net is rarely needed for my pursuits. I like having a net though when fishing lakes out of my float tube or when focusing on larger fish. That would be using fiberglass or graphite rods. I don’t currently own a fishable bamboo rod but have given it some thought and continue to so most likely will get one someday.

Those are some very cool nets.
I used to wade with a net tucked into my belt against my back if I expected anything over 14 inches. Most of the time I would just unhook them and set them free... But sometimes a got a whopper, and often times..... I, essentially, used the net as a means to "abduct" a fish, so that we might visit for awhile, while he was safely recuperating from the battle. Most times a fisherman gets a quick look, unhooks and releases. I like that, but..harmlessly abducting a trout for a few moments, so that you can marvel at its beauty? I like that too. AND.. He shuddah bin glad I didn't eat him.

I don't take many pictures anymore of fish I have caught. Net maybe lets me feel a bit better about holding a fish for a picture while letting it stay in the water most of the time. Pictures of fish are not high on my list either way anymore but maybe when that trophie is there it will help.

Key thing if you are not in a boat is finding a good way to carry the net, so that it doesn’t catch on every bush you pass, and is also easy to grab with one hand when you get a fish on.

Great looking nets. As a gear whore, I’ve got too many, Brodin’s and Fishpond. I picked up a Fishpond Emerger for backcountry float tube trips. It seems like it may replace the mid length for Shad season.

Net up, handle down. I’ve used Nylon, zip ties, etc, splurged the other day on the Confluence replacement straps. I’m really liking these, especially for a nice wooden net, 1.99 apiece. We will see how they hold up.

Nice nets.
I’ve found just sticking the net handle under my wading belt behind me is a pretty simple way to carry and deploy it when needed.
Fishpond and other companies also makes net holsters, some of which are incorporated into their packs.
