Need idea for next bamboo build

I'm ready to split for my next hobby build. I'd like to eventually do Craig and the Missouri River one long weekend in the fall. I have a 3 wt doublehand, several rods I use for SRC from the beach, and a 6 wt spey that I'm not really that happy with (not sure if haven't found the right line or just a crappy build). Maybe a 5wt doublehander?
Any ideas appreciated.
Mark

See if you can figure out what you don't like about your 6wt spey and fix it.
This would probably mean I have to really KNOW a spey cast. I tend to change my casting stroke to match the rod....not really trusting my own evaluation. I just know I didn't feel "good" about the way the line left the rod on the river. Caught a hard fighting Redband with it...but still not very rewarding with a 6wt doublehander : ). I'll bring it to the fling with a couple different weighted lines and see if someone with more insight can tell.

Well....the rain got me impatient, so I'm splitting cane for a 7' 6" Martha Marie 3/4 (three piece with 2 tips...?) for packing up to lakes. I'll use Dave Norlings micro ferrules for the tips.
Time to start node pressing and straightening! : )

Brought a 7’ 6” 2 piece 3 wt out on a local lake with a lot of 8-12 inch stockers I had used a 5wt on an earlier outing.
What a blast! Sorry no pics, but you’ve all seen trout before. I was thrilled to have a ‘girthy’ 12-13 incher take me to the reel with gusto!
Sooo…any recs for a three piece 3wt taper?
Thanks,
Mark

I'd be happy to test out a shorter, ahem, 10wt....if you feel so inclined to build one.....lol.

Tell us more about your 3wt.

Mike
It's an F E Thomas taper. It was about my fourth rod build. Couldn't believe how fine the individual strips got at the tip. Had a heck of time when gluing it up to make sure the strips didn't get twisted. As I was using it, I realized my reel seat is one hex out of alignment with the guides : ).

If you're coming to the 'fling', I've got a 9 wt I had built for baby tarpon (it was just too windy and I have to admit it weighs a ton) and a 12 wt I just made for a fall tuna trip and possibly for GT on Christmas Island next year. It seems to weigh the same amount as the 9 wt when casting. Throws a 12 wt flats line well.

I’ve pretty much decided on a Heddon #14 7’6” 3 piece taper with two tips for my alpine lakes rod….assuming I can ever get my butt up there. Heat treating now. Love how it gains that warm caramel color.
