N. Idaho

It’s that time of year again in N. Idaho. My annual fishing trip with my favorite basketball coach. This year he brought another coach with him, a football coach, that made it even more fun for me. We didn’t catch as many fish as we typically do on this trip but the quality was above average. We fished a trib that none of us had ever fished so that made it even more enjoyable.

These guys do a ton of guided float trips so bushwhacking roadless tribs is a treat for them. We had zero bugs on the water and no rises all day. Most of our fish came on the dropper or streamer but we did manage a few memorable dry fly eats. The frosting on the cake for me was finding a fresh set of matching elk sheds!DSC_6290.jpegDSC_6279.jpegDSC_6263.jpegDSC_6256.jpegDSC_6235.jpegDSC_6301.jpegDSC_6283.jpegDSC_6306.jpeg

Outstanding!

Of course you found an elk shed you lucky son of a gun🤣

For the record…prior to finding that set I had only found 3 elk sheds and 1 dead head…in my entire life and I’m in my 50’s😀. Some might say, I’m incredibly unlucky, for the number of days I have spent in the field.

My guide in WY was very serious about the elk shed season…he told me first five days of the open he does not book any clients…

Some dudes are nuts for them. I have a couple friends that take 2 weeks of vacation for shed season. I’m definitely not that guy. I grab them when I find them
