N Fork John Day Info?

I plan to float from Dale to Monument next week and am looking for any info about what to expect. The flows in Monument right now are about 1800 CFS, but that's after the confluence with the E Fork,

I'm guessing it'll mostly be caddis and mayflies above the confluence, and then bass fishing from there to the take-out.

Am I even close?

Solid people right there!

let us know how your trip went.. i camped up on the north fork a couple yrs ago, up by potamus. and could not find any trout.

We got together to plan and watch some YouTube videos of this float. Then (separately) we came to the conclusion that the flows were too low and we'd end up with a 40-mile drag across shallow water. I think the flow at Monument needs to be above 2000 CFS for the N Fork to have enough water in it for a raft. Lower flows might work for an inflatable kayak, but my raft draws a bit more.

yes, maybe a week too late. i figured u guys were a bit optimistic. we leave tomorrow, below clarno, and its about the last few days for a drift boat.

I did that float last year and with the exception of some windy conditions there was plenty of water to move us.

we have history with service creek gauge. if it gets much below 1400 it starts to get rocky in spots for driftboat. with raft, u can go down much lower. it can get super windy at times, so we try to not to be too late on the water. much easier to sit on lawn chair, and wait it out.
