My Kind of Lunch Break

For the last three years this city ditch has held a fish in the same spot every visit.

Today’s fish was noticeably larger, with bulges in the belly and a half digested crawfish in its mouth.

A small slip of water frequently crossed but seldom fished.

After the catch the dog was affixed, as always, awaiting a fishes return. The large bow was hooked in the water just below the Weimaraner’s butt.

Luckily another bite came soon, this time a small cutty! Interestingly enough after the remodel, the salmon barrier downstream is not small enough to block cutts from travel. On occasion some of this one’s larger relatives show.

One trusty October Surprise Caddis did all the work.

At two fish this is my average for the section of water and my personal best rainbow from it. Not bad for 30 minutes.
