Mushroom and other wild edible foraging

The wife and I are still novices when it comes to mushroom hunting.

Prior to this morning I don’t think we’ve found them hunting on our own…only when with our oldest son who’s gotten pretty good.

We lucked out today, tho…..my wife found a lobster shortly after we started searching and I found a hat full of chanterelles a couple hours later.

Is this Bear's Tooth? I'm a novice when it comes to mushrooms. I've harvested Lion's Mane before which looks similar but always find it on the side of tree's/logs.

Also, an unknown berry in some Sphagnum moss? I've never seen before which could potentially be edible but unsure as well.

That is a Bear’s Tooth, yes. Absolutely one of my favorite edibles. Nice find! Guarantee it’s growing on buried wood. It’s the PNW version of Lion’s Mane which is pretty rare to find in our region outside of non-native planted hardwoods. Bear’s Tooth have a remarkably similar texture to crab meat and they are great when prepared as “crab cakes”.

Your berry looks like a five leaved bramble which is edible and decent.

Thank you kindly for the reply! I'll have to head back to that spot then.
