NFR Moving to Port Townsend!

Non-fishing related

Not really worthy of it's own thread, I understand, but it's my hope that posting here helps me connect with other fly fishers in East Jefferson County.

I was laid off this year and have been looking for work. The job search felt like it took forever to find the right job, but it all fell into place and I landed my dream job. A government job in Port Townsend.

My wife and I enjoy Snohomish, but we're very excited about moving to the peninsula, ahead of retirement. This allows us to get a head start on finding a home, making new friends and exploring the peninsula like locals. I grew up in the area, so this move brings me close to my parents and extended family.

I'm slowly moving out of Snohomish, but there pram and fly rods made it to the ADU I'll be living in, on the first truck load! (my wife will move to PT full time in 2025)

Please send me a note if you're local to East Jefferson and would like to grab coffee, a morning tide, or launch and fish Lake Crescent in June! Oh the possibilities!!!!

Starting next week, I'll be based in Port Hadlock, up the trail from the beach.

Congrats Jeff and best of luck in your new position and living location.

There are far worse places to end up, I'd say. Lots of neat opportunities in that part of the state.

I'm happy for ya Jeff! I know you have ties to that area. I'm down at my home away from home for the season but let's definitely link up and grab a coffee or something this fall when I am home. It's a pretty easy trip for me to that area. We can plan that day out on the canal we've talked about forever

Certainly look forward to getting together Nick!

Enjoy your season!

Quilbilly here...
:)

Don't get up to The Peoples Republic of Port Townsend too much, but make it to Port Hadlock often...gotta hit QFC.
Like both places well enough, but am a stay at home around Dabob mostly.
Welcome

Yes, lots of great parts of EJ, and Dabob is one of the top! I’ll be out your way a bit, exploring. Missed shrimping this year I expect. Next year I guess.

Shrimp is open today, or was till 1.

More shrimp days on the calender into June I believe.

Congrats! Looks like you'll be right in the wheelhouse for fall migratory coho fishing from the beaches.

I like PT. Sounds like a perfect fit. Plenty of water to explore within range on the OP. Certainly SRC beaches, but I’d also tune up a creek outfit for day trips in the forest. You know this probably but you can often use the mountains as a rain shield, heading for the lee. Always have a plan B.
Unless he’s moved you might run into Bob Triggs for coffee.

Good suggestions David! And yes, look forward to connecting with Bob!

Best wishes to you and your wife on this move. I grew up in Sequim and there are times I long to move back. I remember a few PT Vs. Sequim football games (oh, about 57 years ago now). ;-) Enjoy!!

Sounds like you’re from the area and know what’s up fishing wise. So many options and best time of year is just a couple months away in these parts!

your gonna want to meet this really awesome guy named bob triggs. good luck, many found memories of learning to fly fish for SRC in puget sound. good salmon fishing beaches too.

JD great news and I'm excited for you! Peg says hi to you both, we miss you. Send me a selfie from the Fountain Cafe...

Cheers and see ya when I see ya,

That sounds great! I love the area. My folks live up in the ridge just above town. I usually try to wet a line even if for just a short while when we visit.
