A couple of years ago before being diagnosed with the big C I was looking at some properties down on the canal and knew I needed a new boat to fish down there in the manner I like to fish. Having had a number of skiffs built to guide in The Keys I had a pretty good idea of what I would enjoy on local waters. Something that would scoot if necessary and take the chop, run pretty shallow and be set up to fish the beaches for salmon and SRC, capable of being easily launched singlehandedly and with plenty of room to fly fish from. I settled on a 2023 Lund 1650 Angler SS which I purchased in 2024 powered by a new Mercury 50 4 stroke. The boat is set up with a Minnkota Terrova bow mount trolling motor, on board charger for the batteries that power the Minnkota and a crab trap puller, galvanized trailer with a folding tongue, a remote controlled Powerpole anchoring system, a Garmin GPS and bottom machine and all the requisite compliance gear, docking lines, bumpers, and a boat cover and third seat. Unfortunately I wasn't able to purchase the cabin on the Canal and use the boat as much as I had hoped. The treatment regimen prescribed has somewhat kept the Big C at bay but has completely sapped my energy and stamina and worst of all greatly affected my balance and the way I get around. In order to save my kids from identifying a body washed up on a beach I'm selling this boat and will be boatless for the first time in over 50 years. It has been a great run but the time has come. To purchase this boat new and set it up as is would cost around $36,000. I offer it here for 21K before posting it elsewhere. It makes a stable, efficient and enjoyable platform to take full advantage of the resource we have available. I hope someone here can enjoy fishing and crabbing from this boat as much as I have. And I will include my beloved boat box filled with the flies that I tied to fish our waters. Edit, I forgot to mention it also comes with a fancy ass electric trap puller not pictured.PXL_20260601_165647521~2.jpg

That sucks. Looks like a great setup. Hope she finds a good home. Take care!!

Very nice boat, tough call. Prayers.

That would be an extremely fun boat. Great platform

Keep fighting and never give up. I'm very sorry to hear about your diagnosis. But again keep fighting. Best and sincere wishes from me on a positive outcome and a recovery to full health and cancer free.

What a gorgeous boat! I'm so sorry about your sucks against the big C. I wish you healing, strength, and balance.

If anyone needs a second opinion, I have the exact same boat minus a couple details, bought in part because albula had one and he is someone considered to really, really know what he is doing when it comes to fishing. It does everything he listed quite well. I have no complaints at all.

So sorry to hear about the cancer diagnosis, I understand your concerns and limitations.

Your Lund as it is set up is a fishing machine. In 2004 I bought a 16.5 Lund Alaskan with a similar floor plan as your Angler (as a retirement present to myself). I added a similar bow mounted electric in 2008. The boat and electric motor are still going strong though repowered a few years ago after putting nearly 3,000 hours on the original motor. I have spent nearly 800 days in the boat salmon fish (trolling, mooching, fly fishing), crabbing, clamming, chasing ling cod (with gear and flies) kokanee fishing, and of course fly-fishing trout (just returned from 14 days in BC). After all that time in the boat there is little that I would change.

Good luck with your big "C" battle and hope the boat finds a good home!

Good luck with the C and the sale! If I was in a position to buy I'd definitely take a good hard look.

If I didn't live across the US from you, I would make a case for this. All the best with ongoing treatment.

Just sent you a text, I think.

A steal for someone.

Good luck on the sale keep up the good fight. A number of us are out on the canal chasing our little spotted friends from our boats. If you do ever feel up to it once boatless, we can get you out!

Thank you. I appreciate that. You never know. Just 'cause I can't scratch it at will I know I still have the itch.

Dang, I hate this. Hope you get the boat sold Bill, and I hope we can find a new way to get you on the water.

How do you feel about tandem kayaks? :p

So sorry to hear about what you’re going through. Hang in there and keep fighting. Wishing you the best.
