Midge Tip vs Indicator Tip

Received my new floating Indicator line from Cortland plus an intermediate polyleader last evening and got it installed. Cut the leader to six feet, added five feet of tippet to my first fly, a soft hares ear. Tied four more feet on to the bend and finished with a peacock herl soft hackle. Was surprised how sensitive it was to even gentle bites. The fly lines bright tip was really easy to watch. Had a couple takes just below the surface where the trout burst out of the water. Exciting, thought I was Curt Gowdy..lol.
No deep action today as there just wasn’t any chromie hatches. Looking forward to that.
On a side note, this line is rated heavy. With the polyleader weight added it would be real heavy. I took a chance and ordered a 5# line for my 6# med. action rod and sure am glad I did. It’s a good fit.
All in all I’m pleased and feel like this will make a big impact on my success going forward…
