Methow River opens for steelhead, first time in 9 years

FlyFishDan

Steelhead
The region is about 50% through their quota for steelhead specifically for the Methow River - a great opportunity to catch (and cook) a hatchery steelhead with a backdrop that's hard to match. We hired Leaf Seaburg who is a steelhead whisperer, lead us into many opportunities. I even got a bonus King Chinook on the fly!

Congrats on the fish! Before you make your video about this outing - get Leaf to explain how to say "Methow" and "Mazama" - I winced while listening to it in your video from fishing at nearby B*** Lake.

Thanks! I've since corrected my enunciation. Video launched this morning.

awesome! is this a how-to? since you've now fished it once? or something with an actual story to it?

what, no cliff-hangers? I'm on the edge of my seat.

I did, never thought of a chironomid pattern as a "lights out" steelhead fly. I'd be suprised if I was the only one.
I certainly was surprised to learn that myself, the source was highly credible since he manages the fishery and knows his local river. I'll being tying that on as a dropper from now on!
