Messing around with new camera, checking out that Chinese Spy Balloon, couldn't believe what I saw!

So, um, yeah

"There are suspicions among other prominent members of the small, pico-ballooning enthusiasts’ community, which combines ham radio and high-altitude ballooning into a single, relatively affordable hobby"

If there ever was a way to expand this genre into "end times" movies/shows (like say The Last of Us, The Road, The Walking Dead, A Quiet Place etc etc). I mean they already have the "ham radio operator" as a trope but a "ham radio operating pico balloon enthusiast" I mean holy smokes, that's some rapture eluding survivalist stuff right there

storage rooms full of radio gear, valves, shelfs full of industrial grade mylar and bottles of helium, posters of James Glaisher and Marconi...

Does the perception include an armory and powder magazine?

Brian, I guess it could, but it would be an exception to the following in depth and none too scientific study (N=2) of Burt Gummer's Rec Room from Tremors vs Brill's rec room aka "the cage" from Enemy of the State. Although Burt has a radio AND and armory, it is not a Ham Radio.

Be forewarned, this is one of the finest cinematic scenes shot in the last 50 years.....

Now I'm not saying the two can't overlap, say for instance, Enemy of the State, Brill is probably into both- radios and armory, but Brill is not into balloons because he is damn paranoid and people who love balloons don't see all that paranoid to me. Plus Brill isn't into transmitters

I guess it would take a certain kind of munitions loving, not-paranoid, geeky science type who also has a passion for stratospheric ballooning and non-powered flight. Which kinda narrows it down to a perhaps only a subset of Canadians.

If we are looking for an actor with the comedic chops and stage presence to pull it all off, I think perhaps only Squirrely Dan from Letterkenny could do all of this- ballooning, guns, ham radios, survival skills, interest in science

I know some "amateur radio operators" in a local club who are science nerds and electronics experimenters who put together balloons with a raspberry pi computer, gps, altimeter, camera, and a vhf transmitter for the fun of seeing where, and how far they will travel. None of them ever mentioned a backyard doomsday bunker, or a weapons cache.
