While I was at Georgetown, I visited The Wall every Memorial Day; it is an incredibly moving experience, especially on this day. Thank you to all who served, living and passed.
A friend from work shared these articles about two dear friends he served with.
Take a moment, if you're so inclined....they're worth the read….and shouldn’t be forgotten.
The first article needs no intro. The obituary, however, only tells half the story....the second Marine was killed in a 'friendly fire' incident when his unit was mistaken for insurgents.
Interesting story, my father's name (first name, middle initial, last name) is on the wall, but it is not him. Not sure what compelled me to look up his name, he was killed in a hunting accident in 1962, but for some reason, I looked him up.
I visited the Wall many times while in DC, it feels like a sacred place. I made sure to always touch his name, just not sure how many loved ones are never able to get there. I hope he didn't mind.
