Life of the Party
So I'm looking for a two hand rod which I can use for trout in Montana. Mentioned in some recent threads about learning the overhead cast this year using a Beulah Opal2. Love this rod, but the 5/6 weight is still a little overkill for trout, unless the wind is howling. My purpose will be lake fishing from my boat, but also from shore. River fishing too.
I'm thinking a 10' switch might be a notch down, more manageable for the obvious back and forth of two hand or single hand casting on any given day.
The Meiser switch rod I'm interested in is classified as a " line 3". Looks like corresponding spey lines are in the 275 g range. I'm hoping to pair some of my standard 7/8 weight single hand lines which have either WF design, or heavier head lines such as OBS.
I think I'm tracking with this plan. Anybody have experience with the Meiser switch rods, and advice about pairing lines? Expecting to cast all my options to see for myself, but support or criticism still helpful.
Thanks.
