Matriculation Day

Last early release pickup of the year, so we took our pond casting skills to the big river for graduation. Used a simple upstream water loaded flip, and casting up and across with drift.

Didn't take long and he got his first on one of the dark hare's ears I posted this morning. The rest stayed wetter.

We made sure they were OK then sent them on their way.

I clipped the first fly to save before we lost it. The light hare's ears were good to.

I purchased a Paw Patrol rod for my 3 year old granddaughter. and hoping to take her out in a couple weeks.
I'm going to wait until next year to introduce her to fly fishing.

That's great...he's hooked for life.

I'm taking my godson on his first fly fishing trip next week...he's quite a bit older than your grandson, but it still will be his first real trip fishing for trout with a fly...
