Magnetic Mat

I use those little squares of magnetic pieces you get with some hooks to hold my hooks when tying a fly pattern. I decided I want a larger magnetic mat and search various online fly shops. They wanted $25 - 50 for such a product and one of them was only 4"x4". i went to amazon and found the following for $10.

It also comes in a slightly smaller size (9"x7") for $8.00. I bought both. They are used when repairing electronics to hold screws etc.

Thought this might be helpful if you are in search of such an item.

Another option is magnetic tape. Adhesive backing on one side and magnet on the other.

I have a section on my vise base for hooks waiting to be tied, and another section on my tying desk for holding flies that have cement heads that needs to dry.

Available at Amazon, Target, BiMart($2.49), hardware stores. Should be under $5.

For around a buck you can get a package of about 8 or 10 of these peel-and-stick magnets in the craft section at WalMart.

I use the 'peel n stick' magnets in my tying area all the time. Makes it easy to keep the flies out of the way too.
